August was a failure for me. I read quite a bit (or listened to several books on audio), but I didn’t get to the specific titles I planned to read in August, so I’m rolling the list over to September, but with the qualifier that it isn’t likely to happen.
I’m in the middle of the massive novel 4 3 2 1, by Paul Auster, which I need to finish soon as it’s one of the Group Stage books I’m judging for The Mako Prize. I also need to read Dave Eggers’s The Heroes of the Frontier for that as well.
For school, I need to reread George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. And I was planning to read and review Salman Rushdie’s new novel, The Golden House.
Adding all that to August’s unread books seems unlikely. School’s in full swing, my grading stack is already massive, and Hurricane Irma looks set for a south Florida hit this weekend. If that actually happens, all bets are off.
On the positive side, I got fed up with Facebook again and deleted it from my phone and laptop, so that should free up some time and should reduce my blood pressure. Social media really makes me hate people. Here’s to nothing …
