Okay, so I don't hate audiobooks. I decided to give another one a try, this time a YA novel with lots of excellent reviews. I had several hours in the car today, so I turned it on, and was sucked into Gayle Forman's If I Stay.

Discovering that Mia is a classical cellist, of course, gives me an immediate connection to the story. And I greatly enjoyed how Forman alternates the present day's tragic events with the series of flashbacks from Mia's life. And I purposely avoided any potential spoilers, so the suspense stayed with me right through the ending.

I wonder how the movie will be, but regardless, I'm glad I took a shot on this one in audio.

from the publisher: In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces--to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heart-wrenchingly beautiful, this will change the way you look at life, love, and family. Now a major motion picture starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia's story will stay with you for a long, long time.
